Bloodvein RCMP investigating double homicide

Bloodvein RCMP is investigating a double homicide in the community. The Mounties were called around 4 a.m. Wednesday for a report of two dead men at a house in Bloodvein. Two men, aged 22 and 32, were pronounced dead on scene. The RCMP is investigating their deaths as homicides. Bloodvein is located approximately 250 kilometres north of Winnipeg.

Manitoba Hydro sets record for electricity use on bitterly cold day

The cold snap in the province has pushed use of electricity from Manitoba Hydro higher than it’s ever been. “We set an all-time record for electricity use,” Manitoba Hydro spokesperson Bruce Owen said Thursday. “Our peak load as of 7 a.m. yesterday was 4,924 megawatts. TORONTO — Health Canada says prolonged use of a drug commonly prescribed for high blood pressure could increase a person’s risk of developing non-melanoma skin cancer.
