WINNIPEG — Two tornado watches have been issued in parts of western Manitoba.

On Tuesday, Environment Canada posted the watches for the Melita – Boissevain – Turtle Mountain Provincial Park region, and the Virden – Souris region.

Environment Canada said conditions are favourable for severe thunderstorms to develop, which could produce tornados.

It said if a tornado warning is issued, people in the area are told to go indoors to a room on the lowest floor away from walls and windows.

This is a developing story. More to come.
