A severe thunderstorm in the western Manitoba rural municipality of Russell-Binscarth is capable of producing a tornado, large hail and intense rainfall Wednesday evening, Environment Canada says.
Doppler radar shows a thunderstorm near Millwood, Man. — about 140 kilometres northwest of Brandon — which is moving east-southeast across the province, the weather agency reported just before 6 p.m. CT.
The storm could bring a tornado or golf ball-sized hail, Environment Canada warns.
“This is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation. Take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches,” the agency’s alert says.
