RCMP arrest woman on charge of impaired driving causing death after fatal collision with pedestrian

A woman is in RCMP custody after allegedly fatally hitting a pedestrian while driving impaired near Ebb and Flow First Nation.

Shortly after 6:30 a.m., Mounties from the Ste. Rose du Lac detachment responded to a vehicle-pedestrian collision that occurred on Lake Road NE, roughly three kilometres east of PR 278.

When officers arrived, they found a 36-year-old man from the reserve on the roadway who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspected vehicle had stopped nearby. The driver, a 27-year-old from Ebb and Flow, about 180 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg, was found inside and arrested for impaired driving causing death.

RCMP are investigating what happened, but in the meantime, anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP at 204-447-2513, call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, or via their secure tipline.
