Premier to speak to Manitobans about COVID-19 measures

WINNIPEG — Premier Brian Pallister is set to provide an update on the Manitoba‚Äôs fight against COVID-19.

The premier will hold a news conference at 11 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Manitoba Legislative Building. CTV News Winnipeg will live stream the event

The news conference comes one day after Manitoba allowed retail stores, patios and golf courses, among other businesses, to reopen.

On Monday, Finance Minister Scott Fielding announced the province had laid off approximately 2.2 per cent of its workforce, and noted the province is estimating a $5-billion deficit for 2020-21.

As of Monday, the province has reported 281 cases of COVID-19 since March 12. Of the cases, 238 are considered recovered.

Manitoba MLAs will return to the legislature on Wednesday.
