A man and woman face charges after RCMP found drugs and weapons in a stuck pickup truck that raised suspicions in Wawanesa, Man., on the weekend.

RCMP said a concerned citizen in the town, located about 185 kilometres southwest of Winnipeg, near Brandon, told police about a black 2018 Dodge RAM pickup truck that was stuck in a field behind Government Road in Wawanesa.

Two people left the truck and were intercepted by officers as they arrived on scene, RCMP said Monday.

Officers found several knives, a machete, an axe and a handgun-style pellet gun in the truck.

RCMP said they also found suspected crystal methamphetamine and a large quantity of marijuana, more than the allowed possession limit of 30 grams, along with other items.

RCMP arrested a 27-year-old man from Winnipeg, who was on a 10-year weapons prohibition, and a 36-year-old woman from Wawanesa.

Both face charges under the controlled drugs and substances act. The man also faces weapons charges, RCMP said.

Both the man and woman are due in court in April.
