WINNIPEG — Manitoba‚Äôs education minister is holding a news conference on Tuesday morning as schools in the province reopen.

Kelvin Goertzen will be speaking at the Manitoba Legislative Building at 10:15 a.m. CTV News Winnipeg will live-stream the event.

This news conference comes the same day Manitoba schools are set to reopen after shutting down in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Schools are taking a number of safety precautions to help keep students and staff safe, including physical distancing in classrooms; mandatory masks for students in Grades 4 to 12; and staggered lunch breaks and recesses.

This event also comes as bus drivers in the Winnipeg School Division went on strike, meaning they will not be driving students to school for their first day of classes.

This is a developing story. More details to come.
