WINNIPEG — The City of Winnipeg is set to provide an update on its response to COVID-19 Wednesday morning.

Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman, along with Jason Shaw, manager of the city’s emergency operations centre, will hold a press conference at City Hall at 10 a.m. CTV News Winnipeg will live-stream the event.

Last week, city-owned outdoor recreation facilities, such as soccer fields and playgrounds, reopened to the public, though the city reminded residents public health orders regarding gathering size and physical distancing remained in place.

Libraries, which are allowed to reopen during the first phase of the province’s reopening plan, remain closed to the public in Winnipeg, as staff work to find a way to reopen the buildings safely.

Last week, the city added it would also be monitoring transit ridership for overcrowding to determine if more buses would need to be put into service.

This is a developing story. More to come.
