A network issue that caused problems for some cellphone users in Winnipeg, limiting connection to the emergency 911 service, has been resolved.

The Winnipeg Police Service alerted the public on Wednesday morning that BellMTS cellular customers might have challenges if trying to reach 911, and urged them to use a landline or other cellular network provider if possible.

A BellMTS spokesperson told CBC News the company was investigating the problem of “intermittent service issues” and hoped to have it resolved as soon as possible.

The WPS posted on social media around 3 p.m. that the issue was fixed.
